DANA welcomes two new members to leadership team

Disability Advocacy Network Australia (DANA) is pleased to announce two new members of its leadership team, Jeff Smith and El Gibbs.

Jeff has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer after a rigorous recruitment process. Jeff first joined DANA over 12 months ago as Chief Operating Officer. He brings to DANA a wealth of governance and strategic experience, having been an Executive in the community sector for 15 years.

Additionally, we welcome El to DANA in the new role of Director, Policy and Advocacy. El is a seasoned advocate, communications genius and NDIS specialist. El has devoted over fifteen years to working in policy, strategy and advocacy for the rights of people with disability and is a highly respected expert in the media and policy.

Jeff and El, both people with disability, take on the roles at an important time of change and growth for DANA, disability advocacy and people with disability.

“I’m excited to continue to work with Jeff, El and the whole DANA team to build on the fabulous work already undertaken over the past year, as we continue to support our members, advance the value of independent advocacy, roll out the National Centre for Disability Advocacy, begin the National Coordination role, and ensure the upcoming reforms to the NDIS and recommendations from the Disability Royal Commission deliver for people with disability”, said Serena Ovens, Chair of DANA.
